A warm welcome to you

A celebration of music greets you to the drumlins of Monaghan over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The 42nd anniversary of Feile Oriel takes place from Friday 28th April to Sunday 2nd May 2011 where hundreds of musicians and artists descend on the town. Held over three days Feile Oriel 2011 will be a spectacle of music and entertainment culminating in the Fiddler of Oriel Competitions, where the cream of Irish musicians compete for the prestigious title.

The festival programme highlights Monaghan’s and Ireland’s strong cultural identity including its traditional music and language. There will be a range of events including a session trail through the town; music workshops for those who can play already and a “Come and Try” event for those who want to. Late night concerts in the Westerna Hotel for those with stamina and early evening concerts at various venues for those who enjoy a more sedate event.

The range of events ensures that people of all ages and all nationalities can join us in this special celebration.

To each and every one of you, grasp the moment and enjoy the weekend. Monaghan welcomes you.

The Feile Oriel Festival Programme 2011 is supported by Monaghan County Council, Monaghan Town Council, Monaghan Chamber of Commerce, Monaghan Shopping Centre, Panic Sound and Light, The Arts Council, Northern Sound, The Heritage Plan, R and S Printers, Universal Graphics and the Westenra Hote. The Féile Oriel Festival gives grateful thanks for this support and acknowledges all those others who have provided backing and assistance.
